The Philadelphia Phillies and their fans are very, very happy.

After a few rounds of negotiation and even some talks with other teams, they are re-signing right-hander Aaron Nola on a seven-year, $172 million contract.

The Phillies are determined to go all the way, and are willing to make the necessary sacrifices to put together a star-studded roster.

In recent seasons, they have signed Bryce Harper, Nick Castellanos, Kyle Schwarber, Zack Wheeler, Trea Turner, and now they are bringing Nola back on a considerable deal.

And there are reports that even after signing Nola, they are interested in Japanese star Yoshinobu Yamamoto.

In case you didn’t know, Yamamoto could end up signing for a similar price as Nola.

Back to Nola, though.

MLB insider Bob Nightengale offered details of the deal.

“Aaron Nola’s press conference is set Monday at Citizens Bank Park. His 7-year, $172 million contract is straight forward: $24.57 million each season. Full no-trade clause. No opt-outs,” he tweeted.

Many free agents choose to implement opt-out clauses after a couple of years to give themselves a chance to test the free agent market again at an age relatively close to their prime.

Nola won’t have that, but he is making a nice $24.57 million per year payday.

It’s definitely life-changing money for the talented 30-year-old who boasts a 3.72 career ERA.

He will have a say if the Phillies want to trade him to another team later down the road, by virtue of his full no-trade clause.

All things considered, it’s a pretty good deal for Nola and his family, who will get the chance to keep living in a nice city and won’t have to go through the stress of relocating.
