For decades, the Cleveland Browns have been laughingstocks, and their fans have gotten used to losing seasons and perpetual disappointment and frustration.
This season, the team has had its usual big doses of misfortune, including the season-ending injury to star running back Nick Chubb and the injury problems quarterback Deshaun Watson has suffered that have now ended his season prematurely.
But in spite of it all, the Browns have kept winning, and they’re winning the type of games in the type of situations that they usually fail in.
They improved to 7-3 with a 13-10 win over the rival Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, and as a result, Rich Eisen feels head coach Kevin Stefanski should be in the discussion for the Coach of the Year award.
Browns fans may not have been very happy with Stefanski in the recent past, but he is somehow getting results with a roster that is seemingly being held together with bubble gum and spit right now.
The team is winning with defense, and it currently ranks tops in total yards allowed and first downs allowed.
A week ago, Cleveland somehow emerged victorious in Baltimore over Lamar Jackson and company, 33-31, after trailing 24-9 early in the third quarter, and in Week 6, they defeated the San Francisco 49ers, another Super Bowl contender.
Believe it or not, the Browns are currently just half a game out of first place in the AFC North, which is the most competitive division in the entire NFL.
Eisen mentioned that as a result, they may not only win the division but also claim the top seed in the conference, which would certainly only strengthen Stefanski’s argument.
