The San Francisco 49ers made it loud and clear that they had already found their franchise quarterback.
And even when he was struggling and/or hurt, they decided to stick with Brock Purdy, even with Sam Darnold on the bench, ready to showcase his skills.
Purdy was heavily criticized during the team’s losing streak, with people claiming that he was just a game manager and couldn’t win without Trent Williams and Deebo Samuel.
However, NFL on CBS’ graphic shows otherwise.
If anything, Purdy has been absolutely elite this season and should even be an MVP candidate.
Thus far, contrary to popular belief, the former Mr. Irrelevant ranks first in multiple categories, such as passer rating (115.1), completion percentage (70.2%), touchdowns per attempt (6.5%), yards per attempt (9.7), and yards per completion (13.8).

NFL Rank
Pass Rating 115.1 1st
Comp pct 70.2% 1st
TD/Att 6.5% 1st

You may or may not be a fan of Purdy’s game, but numbers don’t lie, and his numbers are quite good.
Of course, he has it way easier than some of his colleagues with that elite supporting cast he has at his disposal, but that doesn’t make his job any less impressive.
Purdy is a guy who usually plays mistake-free football, and that’s a recipe for success more often than not.
He might not be as impressive as the likes of Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, or Joe Burrow, and chances are he’ll never become a superstar, but not all teams need a superstar.
He’s a perfect fit for their system, a guy whose contract is perfect for their books, and just what they need right now.
