Although all the talk about the Houston Texans has revolved around C.J. Stroud, their defense deserves a ton of credit for getting them to where they are at this point of the 2023 NFL season.

Through 10 games, the Texans are 6-4 and are coming off a victory against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 11.

Stroud struggled taking care of the football as he threw three interceptions, but the defense had his back as they were able to limit the Cardinals to just 16 points on the afternoon.

First-time head coach DeMeco Ryans has changed the culture in Houston for the better as he’s got his team playing inspired football on both sides of the field.

Ryans is making his bread and butter on the defensive end, though, as he’s got his young talent playing up to their potential.

Veteran linebacker Blake Cashman explained Ryans’ approach and how he’s managed to uplift the team, via Jim Rome on Twitter.

Cashman explains the term “Swarm Culture” means all 11 players get to the football as well as bring energy and competitiveness to the field and practice every single day.

It sounds like a simple concept on its face, but it’s different when the head coach believes in it and continually preaches it to his team.

Cashman and the rest of the defense have been an impressive unit so far and it looks like Ryans is imprinting his identity on that side of the field.

If Houston is able to sneak into the postseason, they should be a tough out considering how well they execute on both sides.
