The 2023 NFL season has been an absolute disaster for the New England Patriots, who look like an absolute shell of the championship teams that fans have been accustomed to watching.
The Patriots currently sit dead last in the AFC East as they own a 2-8 record and are coming off a bye week where they had to stew over a dispiriting Week 10 loss to the Indianapolis Colts.
Head coach Bill Belichick is still widely regarded around the league as one of the best head coaches, though his job seems at risk for the first time since he took over the New England sidelines.
Belichick has come under fire for the team’s poor performances as some believe his old ways are finally starting to come back to bite him.
However, Belichick isn’t solely to blame as he’s got a stripped-down roster that has no chance of competing with the rest of the AFC.
The quarterback position remains a huge question mark and Albert Breer said that Belichick still might not know who to start for Week 12 against the New York Giants, via NBC Sports Boston.
“I think he genuinely doesn’t know right now,” Breer said.
Why won’t Bill Belichick name a starting QB for Week 12?

Mac Jones looks like he’s significantly regressed and has been benched down the stretch of multiple games now.
Bailey Zappe hasn’t fared much better than Jones, though he at least represents some sort of change for a team that’s offensively challenged.
Belichick will have to think long and hard about how he wants to approach the rest of this season, though the best thing for him and the franchise is to tank for one of the quarterback prospects in the upcoming draft class.
