On Friday, the Miami Dolphins went head-to-head with the division-rival New York Jets in a game that many believed would be a blowout, with Tua Tagovailoa leading the far superior team at this stage in the 2023 NFL season.
Even though the Jets gave the Dolphins a run for their money throughout most of Friday’s game at MetLife Stadium, the Dolphins turned it on with running back Raheem Mostert rushing for two touchdowns, Tagovailoa connecting with Tyreek Hill for a score, and Jevon Holland running back a 99-yard pick-six before halftime.
Miami ultimately went on to win this game over the Jets in convincing fashion, with Mike McDaniel’s squad getting the 21-point win over Robert Saleh and company.
Despite the Dolphins getting a solid win over a divisional opponent and improving their chances of winning the AFC East title, it didn’t come without a costly loss to the defensive side of the football for Miami.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Dolphins linebacker Jaelan Phillips suffered an Achilles injury.
The #Dolphins say Jaelan Phillips has an Achilles injury and is out, a potentially significant injury to their promising pass-rusher.

As the Jets know all too well with superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers going down with an Achilles injury to start the season, this is not an injury that is easy to bounce back from as it takes time and sometimes ends the careers of professional athletes.
In the replay of the injury, a pop can be seen in Phillips’ calf muscle, which almost always means the Achilles tendon has been ruptured.
Needless to say, the Dolphins will be without Phillips moving forward.
