Last season, despite an unimpressive roster, the New York Giants became one of the NFL’s feel-good stories and had a wave of success that was unexpected.
They won six of their first seven games and ended up making the playoffs where they upset the Minnesota Vikings, who had finished with a 13-4 record.
But this season has been a very different story — they have a 3-8 record after defeating the Washington Commanders, 31-19, and they have virtually no shot at making the playoffs now.
On Friday, the Giants made two roster moves by signing two kickers — Randy Bullock and Cade York.

Bullock was a fifth-round draft pick in 2012 by the Houston Texans, and he has a career accuracy of 83.5 percent on field-goal attempts.
He had played three games for New York earlier this season, making both of his field-goal attempts and all six of his extra-point tries after being promoted from the practice squad following an injury to Graham Gano.
York was taken in the fourth round of last year’s draft by the Cleveland Browns, and after starting his pro career by making a 58-yard field goal to win the Browns’ Week 1 game versus the Carolina Panthers, he made 75.0 percent of his field-goal attempts throughout the season.
He struggled during the year’s preseason, which led to the Browns releasing him in late August, and the Tennessee Titans picked him up a few days later for their practice squad.
This Sunday, the Giants will host another struggling team in the New England Patriots, which should give them a real shot at their fourth victory of the season.
