The Boston Celtics made some brilliant moves during the NBA offseason in order to set this team up for success during the 2023-24 campaign, with the additions of Kristaps Porzingis and Jrue Holiday being game-changers for the storied franchise.

Although the move to bring in Porzingis was seemingly a step in the right direction as it takes the pressure off Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown offensively, the one concern with the veteran forward was his staying healthy over the course of the 82-game season and into the NBA playoffs.

After an impressive start to his stint with the Celtics, the injury issues have started to flare up for the talented scorer, as he’s currently dealing with a calf strain, which is concerning because that can be a tricky injury to bounce back from quickly.

Much like a hamstring injury, calf strains can easily be reinjured when a player returns to the floor, so the team will be very cautious with Porzingis, considering his injury history.

According to Celtics reporter Marc D’Amico, head coach Joe Mazzulla gave some insight on Porzingis’ calf injury, saying the team will give it a week before checking it out again.

Joe Mazzulla says of Kristaps Porzingis’ left calf strain that it’s just a matter of how long it takes to heal, and that the Celtics will “look at it again after a week or so.”

With the Celtics being as deep as they are, losing Porinzigs for a week isn’t a big deal, and they have the roster to shoulder the load while the veteran scorer tries to get back to 100 percent.

However, bouncing back quickly from a calf strain isn’t something that happens often in the NBA, especially with all the Achilles injuries that have happened over the years after initially having a calf strain, so there’s no telling how much time he may miss.
