Justin Fields’ abilities as an NFL quarterback have been questioned since he entered the league.
The Chicago Bears have continued to express confidence in him despite a rocky start to his tenure as their quarterback.
While this season hasn’t exactly been what he or the Bears have hoped, his recent win over the Minnesota Vikings was a step in the right direction.
Fields played well against a difficult defense in this game and was able to lead the Bears to a game-winning drive in the fourth quarter.
He spoke about this performance after the game, as shared by reporter Courtney Cronin.
One of Fields’ first comments was, “I really just wanted to prove to my teammates that I had their back.”

The quarterback is seen as the leader of an offense, often, the leader of an entire football team.
If the locker room does not have confidence in their quarterback, it can be difficult for them to put their all into every week, knowing that there is a good chance he will let them down.
Fields might have a long way to win over the organization in the long term, but for now, this win is something they can build upon.
In his comments, Fields also recognized the mistakes he made throughout the game.
He finished this contest with two fumbles, both of which could have cost the Bears the game.
Thankfully, his defense was able to hold the Vikings to 10 points, and as he pointed out, “All I know was that we needed a field goal,” and he helped them get into a position to make that happen.
