The Chicago Bears went into Minnesota in Week 12 with tempered expectations.
After all, the Bears had only won three games up to that point, and the Vikings presented a difficult challenge for them on both sides of the ball.
Despite potential pregame doubts about the Bears’ chances in this one, they were able to pull out a much-needed victory.
This win was not only a step in the right direction for the struggling franchise, but it also broke a long losing streak.
As Ian Rapoport pointed out, this was Matt Eberflus’ first win against an NFC North opponent, the Bears’ first since 2021.

The Bears have struggled significantly over the past several years, especially against their divisional rivals.
This win points them in the right direction, especially since they have struggled throughout the season.
Justin Fields played well when the team needed him to, and the Bears’ defense held the Vikings to just 10 points, their lowest team total in a single game this season.
If only for one game, the Bears seemed to be firing on all cylinders.
The real question is where the Bears will hope to go from here.
Their chances at a playoff berth are slim to none, meaning that, even if they win the rest of their games, it is unlikely they will make it to the playoffs.
However, if Fields can continue to play well, and the Bears find a rhythm in their last few games of the season, it could provide this team with much-needed confidence heading into 2024.
