Kevin Garnett Opens Up On His Feud With Former Celtics Teammate

The Boston Celtics formed a superteam ahead of the 2007-08 season by adding Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen to the roster.

It essentially led to the formation of a Big 3 featuring the above-mentioned superstars and Paul Pierce.

The impact of the move was clearly visible as the Celtics ended up winning the 2008 NBA Championship.

However, the Big 3 broke up after Allen left the Celtics to join their conference rivals, the Miami Heat.

Following the move, Allen got on the wrong side of Garnett and it led to one of the most infamous beefs in NBA history.

Garnett opened up about his beef with Allen, via Stephen A. Smith on Twitter.

“When we was knee deep in the battle with Miami, that was real. None of that was fake,” Garnett said.

Smith guessed that Garnett didn’t have issues with Allen leaving the Celtics.

He was only angry because he went ahead to join the Heat, who were a bitter rival of the Celtics at the time.

Allen played the final two seasons of his NBA career with the Heat and even hit one of the most iconic shots in league history for the Heat in the 2013 NBA Finals.

Anyway, Garnett mentioned had Allen joined any other championship contending team, such as the Los Angeles Lakers, it would have been okay.

But the fact that Allen took his talents to a conference rival didn’t sit well with Garnett.

After all, prior to Allen joining LeBron James’ team, the Heat eliminated the Celtics from the playoffs in back-to-back seasons.

Allen’s move was ultimately beneficial for him as he retired from the league as a two-time NBA champion.
