The Houston Texans had an excellent chance to make up ground in the AFC South when they took on the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 12, though they fell just short of their goal.

The Texans lost 24-21 to the Jaguars in a close game that truly could’ve gone either way.

C.J. Stroud showed why he’s a shoo-in to win Rookie of the Year as he nearly led Houston to another clutch comeback against a good Jacksonville team.

Stroud turned in another 300-yard passing day along with two touchdowns, an impressive showing from the rookie who looked controlled and poised despite facing pressure from the Jacksonville pass rush.

The Texans must feel like they won the lottery with Stroud who has the team playing well and looking like they’re already ahead of schedule in their rebuild.

The former Ohio State Buckeye has earned fans in the media and Greg Jennings believes he should be considered high up the quarterback tier list via First Things First.

“C.J. Stroud is the 2nd best quarterback in the game. He’d be 3rd if Joe Burrow was healthy,” Jennings said.

Patrick Mahomes remains the undisputed best quarterback in the league right now, but Jennings laid out his case for Stroud being a top-3 quarterback because of the numbers he’s put up so far.

As things stand, Stroud currently leads the NFL in passing yards per game, 300-yard passing games, and completions of 20-plus yards.

Those are all incredible stats given how young Stroud is, and although people will disagree with Jennings’ take the rookie is making a case that he should be in the conversation.
