The New Orleans Pelicans just got a huge boost to their lineup.

But more than that, CJ McCollum also got a huge second chance to do what he does best.

Most people would assume that suffering from a collapsed lung would mean the end of one’s basketball career, and McCollum wasn’t the exception to that rule.

That’s why, following his first game back, the veteran combo guard admitted that he felt like a kid again and was blessed and thankful for having the opportunity to keep hooping (via Pelicans Film Room).

“I felt like a kid again, as a 32 year old… The type of injury that it was, I’m just thankful I can play at a high level”

McCollum had been one of the best players in the league to start the season, giving the Pelicans a much-needed boost as both a playmaker and perimeter scorer.

Having him next to Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson does wonders for their team, as he pulls the string of the offense and draws so much defensive attention, freeing up space for their two-headed frontcourt monster.

This Pelicans team has proven that they can compete with the best of them when they’re at full strength.

Granted that the Philadelphia 76ers didn’t have Joel Embiid (illness) on the court for McCollum’s return, but they still made a statement by dominating from start to finish.

The former Portland Trail Blazers star picked up things right where he left them, scoring 20 points on 7/16 shooting to go along with four rebounds, five assists, two steals, one block, and three 3-pointers in just 28 minutes of action.

The Pelicans are officially above .500 and look poised to make the playoffs this season, and don’t sleep on them if they stay healthy.
