When Kristaps Porzingis was signed by the Boston Celtics, some fans were worried because of his history of injuries.

For much of the young season, Porzginis has stayed healthy but he recently experienced a calf strain that forced him to sit out of three games.

However, his time away from the team is coming to an end.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski, there’s “optimism” that Porzingis will return to the lineup this week.

He is ruled out of Monday night’s In-Season Tournament game against the Indiana Pacers but he could be back for the next game in Las Vegas on Thursday if the Celtics advance.

Although the Celtics wish they could have Porzingis for Monday’s game, they will be very happy to see him as soon as he is able.

The Latvian big man is averaging 18.9 points and 6.7 rebounds per game so far and has seamlessly blended into the team’s rotation.

Thankfully, he has only missed four games all season.

Still, there will always be worries about Porzingis because of the physical problems he has had in the past.

He has missed many games because of injuries and would leave the Celtics in a tough position if that were to happen again.

Boston doesn’t have an extremely deep frontcourt and a lengthy absence from Porzingis would put quite a strain on them in that department.

But this injury was only minor and the Celtics avoided a dire situation.

With a 15-4 record, they are the best team in their conference and are hoping to win the first NBA In-Season Tournament.

Porzingis is part of their plans for big success this season.
