Nowadays, the NBA has become a league where most fans love to watch elite offenses from superstar players.
As a result, the art of defense is somewhat getting lost amidst the rule changes to benefit the aforementioned superstars on the offense end of the floor.
Even though playing elite defense remains an instrumental part of being a successful team in the NBA, many players do not develop that aspect of their game.
Despite that, there are a few players who refuse to give up on playing elite defense when they are on the court.
Speaking of which, New Orleans Pelicans’ Herbert Jones is among four players who have recorded at least 1 steal and 1 block in 10 different games in the 2023-24 NBA season, as revealed via StatMuse on Twitter.

Apart from Herbert Jones, the list features Victor Wembanyama, Chet Holmgren, and Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Considering it’s an extremely exclusive list, Jones has certainly done a great job of playing elite defense this season.
Apart from that, Jones is averaging a career-high 12.4 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game for the Pelicans this season.
Considering Jones is having the best year of his career, it’s definitely helping the Pelicans to win games consistently.
In fact, the Pelicans are currently the eighth seed in the Western Conference with a 12-10 record.
Sure, the Pelicans could be better, but it’s still appreciable that the organization has managed to stay in a playoff spot entering the month of December.
Can the Pelicans finally string together a considerable winning streak and clinch a good seed in the West? Only time will tell.
