The New Orleans Saints have been up and down this season, but despite a 5-7 record, they’re in the hunt for first place in the NFC South and a playoff berth.
Second-year wide receiver Chris Olave has emerged as a stud, but their biggest weapon remains running back Alvin Kamara, who has 508 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns in nine games this year.
He is one of the NFL’s true dual-threat tailbacks, and thus he is on pace to join a select group of players who had at least 1,300 yards from scrimmage in each of their first seven seasons, per SportsCenter.

Kamara isn’t the most prolific rusher in the game, but his versatility has made him quite an overall weapon for New Orleans.
Right now, perhaps only Christian McCaffrey of the San Francisco 49ers is a better true dual-threat running back than Kamara.
The list Kamara could join is a very impressive one — Eric Dickerson was one of the first running backs to reach 2,000 rushing yards in a single season, and Barry Sanders was arguably the greatest running backer ever.
LaDainian Tomlinson was an outright beast throughout the 2000s for the then-San Diego Chargers, Matt Forte was very productive, and Curtis Martin helped the New England Patriots reach the Super Bowl five seasons before Tom Brady took over under center and made them into a dynasty.
The Saints’ final two games of the regular season will be against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Atlanta Falcons, and those two contests could decide which team wins the division and makes the playoffs.
