New York Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau is known for his solid defense, wearing his star players out, and having a short leash for role players.

Once you’re in his dog house, that’s it for you; there’s simply no way you’re going to get out.

That short leash is taking a toll on Quentin Grimes’ confidence.

Following another disappointing effort, Grimes admitted that he feels like he’s going to come out of the game with every single shot he misses, adding that every time he shoots it feels like the basketball weighs 100 pounds (via Kristian Winfield and Legion Hoops).

Quentin Grimes feels he may get put on the bench if he misses a shot:

Grimes took just one shot in the Knicks’ loss to the Milwaukee Bucks, and that was despite being the team’s starting shooting guard.

He now has seven straight games with four points or fewer on six field goal attempts or fewer.

Notably, he waited until the third quarter to attempt his only shot, a wide-open three-pointer, which led to him being sent to the bench for the final twelve minutes of the game, making it the third game in a row in which he didn’t play in the fourth quarter.

Josh Hart also complained about the lack of touches recently, which is far from a surprise, considering RJ Barrett, Jalen Brunson, and Julius Randle handle most of the offensive load.

The Knicks rank 28th out of 30th in assists per game, so it’s not like the ball is moving a lot either.

Grimes has averaged six points in 23 minutes per game this season, and it wouldn’t be shocking to see him lose more ground in the pecking order after these comments.
