Following Wednesday night’s win over the San Antonio Spurs, the Minnesota Timberwolves now have not only the best record in the Western Conference but the entire NBA.

While the success of this team can be credited to multiple players, one of Minnesota’s stars has been succeeding in a very noticeable way.

The Timberwolves took to Twitter to remind fans that Rudy Gobert has been putting up monster numbers during his last four games.

His vigorous four-game streak hit a stunning high on Wednesday as Gobert recorded 16 points, 20 rebounds, and 2 blocks.

This fact had Timberwolves fans elated and they came out in droves to support Gobert and even give him some great new nicknames, like “RUDPOY” and “Gobzilla.”

Others noted that the trade for Gobert, which was criticized last season, is now looking like a very good decision by the Timberwolves.

“Just took a bit of time for things to start gelling,” one fan said.

That trade is working out big time for us. Just took a bit of time for things to start gelling

Some reminded Twitter that there are actually three players who have had “MVP stretches” so far this season: Gobert, Karl-Anthony Towns, and Anthony Edwards.

It’s pretty incredible that we’ve had MVP stretches from each of our top 3. Getting it done in a variety of ways

It is very true that all three of those stars have been performing exceedingly well this year, both individually and as a unit.

But it does feel like Gobert’s season is a key reason why the team is now the best in the West.

He is recording 13.4 points, 12.1 rebounds, and 2.4 blocks per game.

It has indeed taken some time but this roster is finally looking and playing great.

Now the question is if Gobert’s string of fantastic games can continue and if the Timberwolves can keep this pace all the way to the playoffs.
