Once Kristaps Porzingis landed with the Dallas Mavericks back in 2019 as the result of a blockbuster trade with the New York Knicks, Mark Cuban and company were thought to have put together one of the most dynamic duos in the league and perhaps the best international duo in league history.

Unfortunately, the pairing of Luka Doncic and Porzingis didn’t turn out to be as successful as the team had hoped, as the two rising stars never really saw eye-to-eye in Dallas, as the Mavericks failed to live up to expectations.

Ultimately, Porzingis was traded again in 2022, with Dallas sending him to the Washington Wizards for Spencer Dinwiddie and Davis Bertans, which turned out to be a deal that didn’t really work out for either side.

Now, after being traded for a third time, this time around to the Boston Celtics, Porzingis has a chance to resurrect his once-promising career alongside Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.

With Porzingis now in perhaps his best position to win a championship, he was recently asked about his failed partnership with Doncic and said the following on “The Old Man & The Three” podcast, via NBA Retweet:

Kristaps Porzingis on his time in Dallas and relationship with Luka Doncic.

“I think we both tried to make it work….I think communication, like maturity on both of our parts should have been better.”

As unfortunate as the failed pairing in Dallas was, it seems that both players are in a better place now, with Doncic sharing the floor with fellow superstar Kyrie Irving and Porzingis being the third option on a stacked squad in Boston.

Only time will tell whether either one of these international stars will win a championship in the NBA, and if they do, which one will get a ring first.
