Los Angeles Lakers superstar forward LeBron James is on the verge of turning 39 years old, with the birthday of the four-time NBA champion being later this month on December 30.

The future Hall of Famer is playing in his 21st season in the league, and it still seems like he may have a lot left in the tank as he continues to play at a high level for the Lakers while sharing the floor with fellow superstar Anthony Davis.

With James being able to sustain his success on the basketball floor at this late stage of his NBA career, everyone has been baffled by how he’s been able to do it, as he doesn’t look like a player only a year away from turning 40.

Carmelo Anthony, who retired after playing one season with James in Los Angeles a couple of years ago, talked about his close friend and how crazy it is that he’s been able to endure over the course of two decades in the league, even though the league is only just over 75 years old, via NBACentral.

“Not too many people that say they play two decades in a sport that’s only 75 years old.”

Anthony believes the difference between James and everyone else he’s come up against in the NBA is that his discipline is second to none, with no one coming close to what he’s been able to accomplish at this point.

The real question moving forward is how much longer James can continue to play at a high level in the league and how long he may be able to play, with playing into his 40s looking like a very real possibility.
