The Cleveland Browns have had a quarterback carousel turning during the 2023 NFL season as they’ve trotted out Deshaun Watson, P.J. Walker and Dorian Thompson-Robinson.

Watson started the year under center, but suffered a shoulder injury that would require surgery and knock him out for the remainder of the season.

P.J. Walker got the first crack at replacing Watson, but the career backup signal caller struggled on the field and forced head coach Kevin Stefanski to try Dorian Thompson-Robinson.

However, Thompson-Robinson didn’t make much of an impact in his short time as the starter and was later placed in concussion protocol after Week 12.

The Browns then turned to a veteran option in Joe Flacco who they originally signed to their practice squad and later elevated to the active roster in Week 13 against the Los Angeles Rams.

Flacco got another start in their Week 14 win against the Jacksonville Jaguars and had a strong performance.

Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski has named Flacco the starter for the rest of the season via Adam Schefter of ESPN.

It was a great performance from Flacco who continued to push the ball downfield and keep the Jaguars secondary honest.

Flacco had a strong connection with David Njoku as the two combined for a pair of touchdowns, while Flacco’s third of the day went to Kareem Hunt.

Naming Flacco the starter of the rest of the way is the best move for Cleveland who is 8-5 and very much still alive in the AFC playoff race.

The Browns have to be feeling lucky they have Flacco around to help run the system and it’ll be interesting to see just how much juice the former Super Bowl MVP has left.
