Sunday saw the San Francisco 49ers win yet another game, as they brushed aside the Seattle Seahawks, 28-16, and it was yet another stellar performance for Brock Purdy.

Purdy, the second-year man who is in his first full season as a starter, completed 19 of 27 pass attempts for a season-high 368 yards as well as two touchdowns, and he posted a 122.1 passer rating.

He is neck and neck with Dak Prescott of the Dallas Cowboys right now as one of the two front-running candidates to win the NFL regular-season MVP award, but some continue to downplay what he has been doing by saying he is playing on a talented squad with an excellent play-caller in head coach Kyle Shanahan.

But former star cornerback Richard Sherman dismissed those criticisms and said Purdy should be the winner of the MVP, per The Volume.

As of now, Purdy is leading everyone in passer rating, pass completion percentage, QBR, touchdown percentage, yards per pass attempt, and yards per pass completion, and he’s also second in passing yards and passing touchdowns.

His 49ers now hold the top position in the NFC with a 10-3 record by virtue of head-to-head wins over the Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles, both of whom are also 10-3.

The Niners are also now strong favorites to not only finish first in the NFC but to also reach the Super Bowl for the second time in five years.

If they do so and win it all, the excuses for Purdy’s very strong and consistent play will have to stop forever.
