Zion Williamson was supposed to be the face of the NBA by now, but that just hasn’t been the case.
He’s always in the news for the wrong reasons it seems.
Zion is either hurt or out of shape most of the time, and it doesn’t seem like that’s going to change.
There have been multiple reports about the New Orleans Pelicans urging him to stay in shape and take care of his diet and conditioning, but he reportedly doesn’t listen to them.
With that in mind, NBA legends Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley took yet another shot at him, questioning his work ethic and his desire to be great.
That’s why Zion responded that he’s going to welcome all pieces of advice if they come from a place where they want him to do better, adding that he’s going to ignore them if that’s not the case (via ClutchPoints).
“If it comes from a great place and a place where they just want to see me do better, thank you. But if it comes from anywhere else, everybody entitled to their own opinion,” Williamson said.

Notably, both Shaq and Barkley know firsthand what it’s like to be out of shape in the league, and they also had seasons where they went the extra mile to get in great shape and dominate.
They’ve been quite critical of him in the past because they know what it takes to overcome conditioning issues and do what he does best, which is something we haven’t seen from Williamson.
At this point and after watching him all these years, it just doesn’t seem like he’s ever going to fulfill his true potential, and the saddest part is that it’ll all be on him.
