During his Hall-of-Fame-caliber career in the NBA, Rajon Rondo was widely regarded to be one of the best point guards in the league while also being considered one of the smartest players in the league who was an extension of a head coach on the basketball floor.
Even though Rondo’s playing days seem to be over, the 37-year-old has been seen doing the rounds on podcasts and shows to talk about the NBA and some of its most intriguing players these days.
During a recent appearance on “Bully Ball” with DeMarcus Cousins and Rachel Nichols, Rondo was asked to give his top-five players in the NBA today who play the point guard position.
Although this may be a difficult list of five players to put together for most, the two-time NBA champion didn’t have too much trouble putting his list together, with Cousins disagreeing on one part, via Showtime Basketball.

Rondo went with Stephen Curry, Luka Doncic, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Tyrese Maxey, and De’Aaron Fox while snubbing rising star Tyrese Haliburton of the Indiana Pacers and Milwaukee Bucks superstar Damian Lillard.
As for Cousins, Haliburton was a must for his list, as he found it ridiculous that Rondo would keep him off, even though the Pacers star is averaging 12 assists per game this season.
Cousins didn’t agree with putting Maxey over Haliburton, which makes sense despite the Philadelphia 76ers star having a breakout year alongside reigning NBA MVP Joel Embiid.
Lillard also didn’t crack Cousins’ list, which is certainly a choice.
