The NFL’s MVP award has gone to a quarterback for the past ten years.

Adrian Peterson was the last non-quarterback to win the award, taking home the honors in 2012.

The previous non-QB to win MVP was LaDanian Tomlinson in 2006.

It has become rare for another skill-position player to be voted MVP, given the enhanced importance of quarterbacks in a pass-heavy league.

Could the 2023 season break this trend?

While Dak Prescott and Brock Purdy are viewed as MVP front-runners, Christian McCaffrey and Tyreek Hill are still in the mix.

Greg Jennings recently appeared on The Craig Carton Show, giving his input on which skill-position player had a better chance of winning.

Jennings gave an edge to Hill, especially after seeing the recent Miami Dolphins game.

“When he was out of the game, the offense looked like they couldn’t function,” Jennings said.

Tyreek Hill or CMC for a non-QB MVP?

“I give the edge to Tyreek. When he was out of the game, the offense looked like they couldn’t function. It looked like they lost everything they had prepared for.” — @GregJennings pic.twitter.com/m1P0nea97f

He also said that, for the Dolphins, “It looked like they lost everything they had prepared for.”

After Hill left the Dolphins’ game against the Tennessee Titans, the offense wasn’t clicking as it had previously.

While he eventually returned to the game, it was evident that he wasn’t fully healthy and unable to perform to his typical capabilities.

If he misses more time, the Dolphins will have to reevaluate how their offense will run, a further sign of Hill’s value to the team.

While Jennings believes Hill has done enough to earn MVP, sportsbooks do not agree.

He still has the seventh-best odds to take home the award, having a long way to go to catch up with the quarterbacks.
