The NBA has officially laid the hammer down on Draymond Green.

The Golden State Warriors star was tangled up in yet another altercation, and it seemed like it was just about time they made an example out of him.

With that in mind, Joe Dumars, Executive Vice President and Head of Basketball Operations for the NBA, took to ESPN’s “First Take” to explain why they decided to suspend him indefinitely.

Per the former Detroit Pistons star, they didn’t want people to get too caught up in the number of games, and they instead wanted to work closely with Green to make sure this was for the best.

Dumars believes that suspending him indefinitely will allow Draymond to seek counsel and work on actually getting better and past all these well-documented antics.

The biggest irony of this situation is that, for the first time in Green’s career, it appears that he didn’t actually mean to hurt his rival.

He took a big swing at Jusuf Nurkic while trying to flop, but his reputation and history of questionable conduct were just too harsh to ignore at this point, especially considering he had already been suspended once and ejected twice this season.

Green needs to do better.

He’s not a rookie; he’s a well-seasoned veteran who plays a vital role on a struggling team that needs him now more than ever.

Hopefully, this will be the wake-up call he so desperately needs to finally get his act together and do what he does best: play winning basketball.
