After a win over the Green Bay Packers in Week 10, the Pittsburgh Steelers improved their 2023 record to 6-3, and it seemed like they were on track to making the playoffs this season.

However, the Steelers have now lost three of their last four matchups, and those postseason plans are quickly vanishing away.

Former quarterback Ben Roethlisberger recently shared some critical comments about his old team, and even though these comments were likely meant to be viewed as constructive criticism, not everyone was thrilled with what the former quarterback said.

Hall of Fame wide receiver Michael Irvin recently revealed that he believes Roethlisberger’s comments were meant as an attack on Pittsburgh head coach Mike Tomlin (via UNDISPUTED on Twitter).

“It just sounds so, so personal, and I’m surprised and shocked at Ben for doing this and attacking Mike Tomlin. This has something to do with some issue they had, obviously, while they were [working together].”

Whether people agree with Roethlisberger or not, the longtime Steelers quarterback has every right to be critical of his former team.

It’s actually quite refreshing when a former NFL player isn’t afraid to criticize his old team since it seems like this is something that happens less and less often these days.

With a 7-6 record heading into Week 15, Pittsburgh likely has to win at least three of their final four games in order to get a spot in this season’s AFC playoff bracket.

The final four matchups on the Steelers’ 2023 regular-season schedule has them taking on the Indianapolis Colts, Cincinnati Bengals, Seattle Seahawks, and Baltimore Ravens.

If Pittsburgh misses the 2023 postseason, one can only imagine what Roethlisberger will have to say about that.

One thing we can guarantee, the former Steelers quarterback won’t pull any punches with whatever reaction he ends up having to how his old team finishes the 2023 season.
