The Dallas Mavericks knew they were getting a special kind of talent when they traded for Luka Doncic.

Nonetheless, there was also plenty of skepticism, and even Dirk Nowitzki recently admitted that he wasn’t so sure about that draft pick.

Fast forward to today, and Doncic has proven to be one of the most talented players of all time, and he continues to make history almost every single time he sets foot on the court.

He did so again on Thursday night, as he just tied Nowitzki for the most 35-point games in franchise history (78).

According to NBA on ESPN, the 24-year-old accomplished this feat in just 353 career games, all while Nowitzki played in 1,522 games.

There’s no denying that Nowitzki is one of the greatest scorers of all time, and he even has a case for being the greatest European player in the history of the league.

Then again, Doncic is on pace to take down almost every single one of his franchise records, and that distinction as the best European ever could also be in the rearview mirror with Nikola Jokic, Doncic, and some up-and-coming players.

Doncic continues to get better and better and he hasn’t even reached his prime.

The way he controls the pace and tempo of the game and how he’s able to overpower his rivals despite not being fast or athletic is just mesmerizing.

And if he continues to put up these kinds of numbers on a nightly basis, he could even retire as the highest PPG player in NBA history.
