The Detroit Lions are no longer the easy win they used to be.

Dan Campbell and the front office have done a great job of turning the team’s culture around.

And while plenty of that has had to do with how they’ve made the most of their draft picks to get talented young players, it also has to do with the strong characters they’ve gotten.

Needless to say, a player who checks both boxes is OT Penei Sewell.

The Oregon product continues his rise to stardom, and he’s established himself as one of the best in business this season.

That was made evident by PFF, as they pointed out the fact that Sewell has allowed zero QB pressures in the past six games.

The Lions have found mixed results over the past two months or so, alternating big wins with tough losses.

But despite their inconsistency and how different they’ve been at home and on the road, Sewell has been elite week in and week out.

Having a guy like Sewell out there gives Jared Goff plenty of time and space to operate, and that also leads to good decision-making and good things.

The Lions are still looking to get the NFC North division, and while it seems like they shouldn’t find much trouble raising the divisional pennant, they cannot rest on their laurels in the final month of the season.

Fortunately for them, they have a brick wall in the shape of an offensive tackle right there.
