The Baltimore Ravens have already outperformed what many expected heading into the year.
While they snuck into the playoffs in 2022, they were not necessarily thought of when considering the AFC’s best teams for the 2023 season.
After their Sunday Night Football victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 15, the Ravens became the first AFC team to clinch a playoff spot.
This moment was emotional for several of their top players, including wide receiver Rashod Bateman.
In a postgame interview shared via Josina Anderson, Bateman talked about his journey to reach this point.
He also described what the rest of the season looks like for the Ravens, saying, “Our eyes are on the Super Bowl right now, and everybody is in our way.”

It gets me every time when a player gets emotional in postgame, when personal trials intersect with the game.

While every team enters a new season with Super Bowl aspirations, for the Ravens, that goal is becoming clearer by the weak.
By making the playoffs, they got to the first step in reaching their goals.
They’ll need to dig deep, finishing the regular season strong to secure a first-round bye in the playoffs.
If they can do that, the Ravens will only need to win two playoff games to get to the Super Bowl, rather than the three games the other teams in the conference will have to win.
Given the strength of the AFC, they’ll likely face a formidable opponent in the playoffs, but the Ravens appear to be poised to beat any opponent on a given day.
With one of the league’s top defenses and a constantly improving offense led by Lamar Jackson, the ceiling seems limitless for this team.
