The New Orleans Saints currently find themselves entangled in a fierce three-way battle for first place in the NFC South.
They hold a 7-7 record, which is the same record as the division-leading Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and they’re just one game ahead of the 6-8 Atlanta Falcons.
The Saints are banged up right now, as wide receiver Michael Thomas has been out for the last few weeks with an ankle injury, while fellow wideout Chris Olave didn’t play in Sunday’s win over the New York Giants because of an ankle injury of his own.
Head coach Dennis Allen, per John Hendrix, said he expects Olave to participate in practice in “some form or fashion” this week, yet it’s too early to say whether Olave will be able to play on Thursday at the Los Angeles Rams.

The Rams are also 7-7 and fighting for a Wild Card playoff spot, and a loss to them could put New Orleans in a tough spot as far as getting a postseason spot if they don’t win their division.
With Thomas continuing to be hit hard by the injury bug for a fourth straight year, Olave has emerged as arguably the team’s top offensive option.
Through 13 games, he has 918 yards and four touchdowns, and he recently had back-to-back games of over 110 yards in Week 12 and Week 13.
The Saints currently rank 14th in total yards and 12th in points, but they will finish the season with games against the Buccaneers on New Year’s Eve and the Falcons in Week 18.
