The Tampa Bay Buccaneers took a chance on Baker Mayfield when no one else did.

Mayfield rewarded them with a solid season, and he’s proving a lot of people wrong as of late.

With that in mind, FOX Sports analyst Nick Wright wanted people to apologize after all the disrespect, letting everybody know that he did something that only Aaron Rodgers had been able to accomplish: Have a perfect passer rating at Lambeau Field (via First Things First).

Does @getnickwright feel vindicated after sticking with Baker?

“Baker is coming off a game with a perfect passer rating. I can tell you, with no qualifiers, in the history of Lambeau Field every QB that has played there not for the Packers has ever done what Baker did!” pic.twitter.com/wqROx0L9uI

Wright went as far as to compare Mayfield’s numbers from this season to Tom Brady’s from his final year, and they were quite similar.

Mayfield has developed strong chemistry with both Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, and while the team is far from flawed, they have a strong chance to win their division and clinch a playoff spot, something that seemed pretty much off the table when the New Orleans Saints signed Derek Carr.

The Buccaneers have a winnable schedule for the remainder of the season, but they’ve also risen to the occasion a couple of times during the season.

Mayfield is bringing his career back to life, and he’s proving that he belongs in the league.

It’s crazy what a different environment can do for a struggling player, and that’s another example of why people shouldn’t rush to give up on struggling quarterbacks when they don’t figure things out right away.

All things considered,, the Bucs might be the last team you’ll want to meet in a win-or-go-home scenario in the playoffs.
