The Miami Dolphins made a small move with a big player Tuesday when they decided to move on from veteran edge rusher Jason Pierre-Paul.
The organization reportedly released the veteran after just two games with the team, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
Pierre-Paul, 34, only played for five defensive snaps and eight special-teams snaps during his time and was a healthy scratch for the Dolphins’ 30-0 win over the New York Jets in Week 15.

Pierre-Paul signed with Miami on November 28, off the New Orleans Saints’ practice squad.
He previously played one season with the Baltimore Ravens in 2022 where he tallied 26 combined tackles and three sacks in 14 games.
Pierre-Paul had enjoyed a solid 12-year career with the New York Giants and Tampa Bay Buccaneers prior to his stint in Baltimore.
He has 94.5 career sacks, 631 career combined tackles, 167 career quarterback hits, and 21 career forced fumbles in 182 total games.
If Pierre-Paul clears waivers, he’ll be free to sign with any team as the 2023 regular season draws to a close.
The Dolphins activated running back Chris Brooks from injured reserve to fill Pierre-Paul’s roster spot.
Miami can clinch the AFC East division title this week if the Dolphins win and the Buffalo Bills tie or lose and can also clinch with a tie and a Bills loss.
The Dolphins can secure a playoff berth overall with a win, though.
So while the Dolphins head towards their second consecutive postseason under head coach Mike McDaniel, Pierre-Paul will head back to the open market with three weeks left in the regular season.
