The Milwaukee Bucks took a huge swing right before the start of the 2023-24 NBA season as they pulled off a blockbuster trade for Damian Lillard.

Lillard, who requested out from the Portland Trail Blazers, looked like he was going to stay put before the Bucks swooped in with an aggressive offer to land the All-Star guard.

With a new head coach in Adrian Griffin, Milwaukee made sure to try and set him up for success and Lillard definitely fits the bill as a player that can uplift a franchise.

The Bucks have rattled off five consecutive wins, with their most recent victory coming against the San Antonio Spurs.

Lillard scored 40 points in the win, but more importantly, hit a major career milestone as he now has over 20,000 points.

In his postgame interview, Lillard expressed how fortunate he is to have crossed the threshold via Bally Sports Wisconsin.

“It’s a blessing and an honor to have that type of accomplishment,” Lillard said.

Since entering the NBA, Lillard has been one of the best scorers at his position and he showed why against the Spurs as he continually torched them for shots in the lane and from distance.

His greatness as a scorer shouldn’t be overlooked and his offensive prowess is the reason why fans have to be feeling optimistic about Milwaukee’s title chances.

Although reaching 20,000 career points is a massive feat it shouldn’t be the main focus for Lillard who is still chasing after his first title.

He’ll enjoy the occasion for now, but shortly after will be right back to work trying to lead the Bucks to another championship.
