Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers can’t be stopped right now and is having a series of terrific games.

On Wednesday, he scored 51 points and 12 rebounds in a win over the best team in the West, the Minnesota Timberwolves.

This was Embiid’s second 50-point game of the season and further cemented him as a candidate for this year’s MVP.

Appearing on “Nightcap,” Gilbert Arenas spoke about how well Embiid has been playing.

“This is that level that the super superstars get to,” he said.

“We all questioned his MVP last year and I think he’s real pissed off about that,” Arenas added.

Last season, Embiid won his first MVP trophy with an average of 33.1 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 4.2 assists.

This season, he’s somehow stepped up even more and is posting 35.1 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 5.9 assists.

Naturally, many people think that he’s the frontrunner for this season’s MVP even though he just won a few months ago.

There is a very good chance that Embiid will win back-to-back trophies if he continues to play as he has been.

But more importantly, Embiid could finally lead his team to the NBA Finals with this sort of amazing production.

When the Sixers lost James Harden, there were concerns about what would happen to Philadelphia.

Would they have enough offensive output to really compete in the East?

The answer to that is yes because of the hard work of supporting stars like Tyrese Maxey and others.

But, once again, Embiid is the biggest part of the team’s success and has helped them stay competitive in the Eastern Conference.

Some people questioned his selection as MVP last season and apparently, Embiid wanted to silence those critics.

He is definitely doing that in 2023-24.
