Coming into Week 16 of the 2023 NFL season, the San Francisco 49ers are the hottest team in the league, with the team winning six straight games and playing better football than any team in the NFL right now.
Although the 49ers are arguably the best all-around team in the league heading into Week 16, San Francisco will be put to the test on their home field on Christmas Day against arguably the best team in the AFC.
Brock Purdy and company will play host to the Baltimore Ravens, who have won eight out of their last nine games and have a road record of 6-1, which is better than their home record of 5-2.
Even though the consensus right now is that the 49ers are the better team, the Ravens pose a significant threat in this potential Super Bowl preview, with Lamar Jackson being the main focus of the coaching staff in San Francisco, as head coach Kyle Shanahan openly admits via 49ers on NBCS.

Purdy and Jackson are arguably neck and neck when it comes to the race for the NFL MVP award, with Monday’s game at Levi’s Stadium potentially being the difference-maker for voters regardless of the performance of these two young star quarterbacks.
Unfortunately for Purdy, the 49ers star doesn’t have the same skills as Jackson, who can hurt opposing defenses with his arm as well as his legs.
It’ll be interesting to see if the 49ers defense can contain Jackson in this game and what it will mean for the MVP race, as well as the distinction as the best team in the league ahead of the NFL playoffs.
