Last season, the New York Giants surprised many people by starting 6-1, finishing 9-7-1, and upsetting the 13-4 Minnesota Vikings in the playoffs.

But this season has been a much different story.

The Giants are 5-9 right now, and not only have they been plagued with some poor play, but they have also had to deal with some key injuries.

Quarterback Daniel Jones tore his ACL in a Week 9 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders and was lost for the season, and they have also had a carousel of kickers due to injuries.

Graham Gano and Randy Bullock both suffered injuries, and now Cade York, who was signed as a result of those injuries, has an injured quad.

Per Adam Schefter, New York has signed veteran kicker Mason Crosby to fill the void.

Former Packers’ kicker Mason Crosby signed with the Giants to replace Cade York, who is now the third Giants kicker this season to go on injured reserve. York, who was scheduled to make his Giants debut Monday in Philadelphia, injured his quad in practice Thursday. He now joins…

Crosby had been with the Green Bay Packers from 2007 until last season, which means he has been around long enough to have played with Hall of Fame quarterback Brett Favre.

He helped the Packers win their most recent Super Bowl championship during the 2010 season, and he is the all-time leading scorer in the history of the storied franchise.

The Los Angeles Rams recently signed Crosby to be on their practice squad, but they released him nearly a week later.

He hasn’t played yet this season, but he did relatively well in 2022 by converting 86.2 percent of his field goal attempts, including all but one of his 25 attempts from inside of 50 yards.

As a team, the Giants have made just 70.8 percent of their field goal tries this year.
