The New Orleans Pelicans seemingly landed a generational star in Zion Williamson after drafting him in 2019.
But over the last few seasons, Williamson hasn’t really reached his full potential in the NBA.
A key reason behind Williamson’s struggles is his inability to cut his weight down to slim down and avoid injury troubles.
In fact, this has resulted in the final three years of his humongous five-year, $197 million contract no longer being guaranteed.
Upon seeing the news, NBA analyst Shannon Sharpe called out Williamson over a perceived lack of commitment, via NBA on ESPN on Twitter.

Sharpe believes if Williamson truly loved the game of basketball, he would have maintained his weight and given his 100% for the team over the course of his career.
While Sharpe’s comments may seem too harsh at first, they make sense when we take into consideration that Williamson has played more than 61 games just once in his career.
In fact, in the remaining seasons, Williamson is yet to cross even the 30-game mark.
Keeping that in mind, it’s no surprise that Sharpe and many fans around the globe are furious with Williamson’s lack of commitment toward the game of basketball.
This season, Williamson has already played in 23 games and has averaged 22.0 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game for the Pelicans.
Considering he has missed just six games so far this season, it is a positive sign.
However, there is no guarantee that Williamson will be this consistent throughout the remaining games of the season.
