The Kansas City Chiefs will be in the postseason again to defend their Super Bowl championship, but fans are on edge as the offense has looked the worst it has during the Andy Reid-Patrick Mahomes era.

Mahomes has always had reliable options in the passing game, but during the 2023 NFL season, the only two players he can comfortably rely on are Travis Kelce and Rashee Rice.

Defenses have keyed on Kelce this year, and while Rice’s development has been encouraging he’s still a rookie who has a lot to learn at the professional level.

There have been several instances of receivers costing the Chiefs points, most notably Kadarius Toney who has dropped multiple passes from Mahomes.

The argument to bench Toney is as loud as it’s ever been as he clearly doesn’t look like himself after suffering several injuries the past few seasons.

However, it looks like Toney won’t be suiting up for the team against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 16 via Adam Teicher of ESPN.

“Kadarius Toney and Jerick McKinnon won’t play for Chiefs on Monday,” Teicher tweeted.

Toney missed the entire week of practice with a hip injury, while Jerick Mckinnon has been dealing with a groin injury.

Them being ruled out against the Raiders isn’t surprising, but it does sap the talent on the depth chart.

Without Toney, this should mean even more opportunities for Rice while players like Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Justin Watson should get additional targets.

Las Vegas has been playing some inspired football as of late, so this won’t be the normal walk in the park as it usually is for Kansas City.
