The 2023 NFL season went about as poorly as it could have for the Los Angeles Chargers as they entered the year as Super Bowl hopefuls.
With a stacked roster full of talent on both sides of the field and a superstar quarterback in Justin Herbert, most expected the Chargers to be in the mix come playoff time.
However, a mix of poor coaching, injuries, and bad luck resulted in another lost season for Los Angeles which faces many questions in the offseason.
Chargers owner Dean Spanos obviously had enough after an embarrassment of a performance against the Las Vegas Raiders as he fired general manager Tom Telesco and head coach Brandon Staley.
The moves were inevitable as the pairing continuously underwhelmed during its tenure and the franchise can move forward with a clean slate.
Telesco served the organization for over a decade and released a statement following his firing via his personal Twitter account.
“I am grateful for my 11 years as GM of the San/Diego/LA Chargers,” Telesco said. “It was an experience my family and I will never forget.”

Telesco did everything he could to surround Herbert with players he needed to get to the next level, but unfortunately, his efforts were in vain.
Following the move to Los Angeles, Spanos seemed desperate to change the team’s fortunes around but now must stomach what is likely a rebuild.
Telesco handed out lucrative extensions to several players, but the new regime will have to cut some key players in order to get under the salary cap.
