The 2023 NFL Season has been tumultuous for the Denver Broncos.

With a slow start to the year for Russell Wilson and the offense, it seemed like this team was destined for a less-than-ideal record.

However, Wilson started to turn things around, bringing the Broncos back within a stone’s throw of a playoff berth.

Despite this turnaround, the organization doesn’t seem pleased with his performances thus far.

As Dianna Russini of The Athletic has recently highlighted, Wilson is expected to be cut after the conclusion of this season.

Russell Wilson is expecting to be cut by the Denver Broncos in March, per league sources. For almost two months, the quarterback has been starting knowing the organization was most likely going to move on him from after this season.

Russini also noted that Wilson has known about this outcome for the last two months but has still been starting each week.

This report came shortly after it was revealed that Wilson will be benched for the final games of the Broncos’ season.

While Wilson might not be playing like his MVP-caliber self, he is still a seasoned NFL veteran.

The organization isn’t giving Wilson any additional on-field opportunities by turning to a backup for their last two games.

This paves the way for Jarrett Stidham to get more starting experience, with Wilson sidelined due to this decision.

There are a lot of questions yet to be answered about the Broncos’ decision, questions that should be revealed in due time.

For now, fans are mainly sitting in the dark, wondering why this organization made such a hefty investment in Wilson only to turn around and cut him two years later.

The Broncos are trying to blame someone for their struggles, and Wilson seems to be their target.
