The Baltimore Ravens have outperformed all expectations of them heading into the season.
They are in the driver’s seat heading into the playoffs, as they have the best record in the AFC.
If they hold their current positioning, the Ravens will have a first-round bye and guarantee home-field advantage throughout the postseason.
The Ravens’ play has caused many to sing the praises of Lamar Jackson, who is in contention for league MVP.
However, not every fan and analyst is convinced of Jackson’s ability to lead this team effectively.
As Chris Russo recently asked in a segment of First Take, “Until Lamar does it in the postseason, can we put the brakes on just a bit?”

As Russo mentions, there is a lot of season left to play.
While he isn’t necessarily trying to downplay what Jackson has done to this point, Russo also wants to caution the current hype surrounding him.
If Jackson cannot deliver impressive performances in the playoffs, his regular season numbers will not be looked upon so fondly.
This has been the narrative surrounding Jackson for the past several years, something that has been forgotten throughout the season.
Russo wanted to remind fans of this as they continue to sing his praises.
The AFC has gotten increasingly difficult over the past several seasons as more and more quarterbacks come onto the scene.
If Jackson and the Ravens end the year as the conference’s representative, they will answer a lot of questions, changing the narrative surrounding this team.
