Joel Embiid Offers Career Advice To Victor Wembanyama

The San Antonio Spurs have one of the most unique talents the sports industry has ever seen.

Even so, regardless of having some young and talented players around him, they haven’t been able to make the most of his skills and win some basketball games.

Growing pains are to be expected from rookies, especially those who have to make a mold of their own because their game doesn’t resemble anybody else’s.

With that in mind, Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid advised Wembanyama to try to find his own style.

He told David Aldridge of The Athletic that Wembanyama should decide whether he wants to be more like a guard or a big man, stating that he has to choose between being like Kevin Durant or being like him (via NBACentral).

“He has to figure out where he wants to play, whether he wants to be a guard or a big or whatever. It’s not necessarily whether he wants to be a guard or a big; it’s what he wants to become. Do you want to become KD, or do you want to become me?”

Truth be told, what makes Wembanyama special is that he doesn’t have to choose that at all; he can do it all.

Also, no disrespect to Embiid whatsoever, as he’s an unstoppable scorer and the reigning MVP, but it’s not like he is the true definition of a bruising big man.

If anything, he spends a lot of time on the floor, around the perimeter, and on the free-throw line instead of making the most of his physique and playing in the post.

Wembanyama can do everything Embiid does and more.

He can be the best two-way player in the league in just a couple of years from now.

It will be a long and winding road, but it’ll be more than worth it.
