For years, Philadelphia 76ers fans urged the team to trade Tobias Harris, but that was never in their plans.

Harris had one of the worst contracts in the league in terms of money and production, but he was never a bad player.

The narrative around him was always because of how much money he made, yet he was actually serviceable as a third or fourth-scoring option.

But now that he’s finally entering the final year of that head-scratching deal, the possibility of a trade has surfaced.

According to Shams Charania, multiple teams are keeping an eye on the veteran forward and will keep tabs on whatever happens with him (via NBACentral and Run It Back).

This shouldn’t come as much of a surprise.

As criticized as he’s been, Harris is an efficient three-level scorer, a guy who can grab some boards, get some points, and play and hold his own at both forward spots.

Once again, the issue was never production; it was all about money.

But now that his deal is going to be off the books by the end of the year, he could actually give a contending team a major boost.

The Sixers might not want to part ways with him if they feel confident in their ability to re-sign him on a big discount.

On the other hand, if they feel like he’s just going to walk away as a free agent, there would be literally no incentive to keep him in the City of Brotherly Love for a second longer.
