The Los Angeles Lakers have had a somewhat inconsistent start to the 2023-24 NBA season.
As a result, it’s no surprise that the Lakers are still the eighth seed in the Western Conference with a 17-15 record this season.
However, one thing that has been consistent for the Purple and Gold after the first few months of the season is the performance of Austin Reaves from the bench.
So much so that Reaves has been receiving a lot of support from fans to win the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year award this season.
Well, that wish is apparently on the way to being fulfilled as Reaves is currently the favorite to win the award, as revealed via NBACentral on Twitter.

Austin Reaves currently has +225 odds to take home the honor in the 2023-24 NBA season.
It’s one of the few things to feel good about for the Lakers this season despite being one of the favorites to win it all ahead of the new campaign.
As for Reaves, he is averaging a respectable 15.1 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game for the Lakers.
On top of that, he is shooting 48.3% from the field and 37.4% from the three-point line.
While Reaves’ numbers may not stand out of the box score, he is clearly doing a great job of giving the Lakers an extra push by coming off the bench.
Reaves has played 23 out of his total 32 games this season off the bench.
Although the Lakers tested Reaves as a starter during the early part of the season, it is more than obvious that the 25-year-old puts up much better numbers from the bench.
