Not many players are able to have a long career in the NBA, let alone international players.

Goran Dragic wasn’t like most players, and he made an immediate impact almost everywhere he went.

However, he was winding down and it was already time to call it quits after dealing with so many injuries and DNPs over the past couple of years.

That’s why the 15-year veteran announced his intention to retire from professional basketball immediately, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic, who also reported that he’s going to have a farewell game in Slovenia later in August.

Needless to say, that prompted plenty of reactions on social media, both from his fans and others who didn’t remember he was still in the league.

Wow! A great career!

Dragic earned the praise and respect of his peers for his toughness and clutch shot-making.

He looked like a player on the verge of stardom when he broke out with the Phoenix Suns, but he failed to reach that perennial star status.

Even so, he managed to run away with Most Improved Player honors and was an All-Star as well.

He had stops with the Phoenix Suns, Milwaukee Bucks, Chicago Bulls, Houston Rockets, and Toronto Raptors.

Nonetheless, it seems like the Miami Heat was where he felt the most comfortable, and his toughness truly embodied what Heat Culture stands for.

Dragic also had a remarkable international career, leading Slovenia to the gold medal in the 2017 FIBA Eurobasket and earning Eurobasket MVP honors, and he’ll go down as one of the greatest players in his nation’s history.
