The Los Angeles Lakers’ woes continue following the team’s most recent defeat at the hands of the New Orleans Pelicans.

Apart from suffering a 20-point defeat, the Lakers also had to deal with troublesome news around their forward, Rui Hachimura.

Hachimura picked up a calf injury after playing just eight minutes in the game and left the floor.

Considering Hachimura didn’t return to the game, many are afraid that the veteran forward could be out for an extended period of time due to the injury.

The concern was confirmed by Darvin Ham after the game via Dave McMenamin on Twitter.

Darvin Ham says there is a “high level” of concern when it comes to Rui Hachimura’s calf strain injury because he left and couldn’t return, but the team doesn’t want to jump to any conclusions about Hachimura’s status until further evaluation occurs

As of now, no official timetable for Hachimura has been provided by the team, but there is a high level of concern about the severity of the injury.

Considering the Lakers are currently in a slump, losing a key player like Rui Hachimura could make life tougher for the organization.

Hachimura has played 25 games this season and averaged 11.6 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game for the Los Angeles Lakers.

He has stepped up for the team during multiple games as the third star behind the dynamic duo of LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

If Hachimura’s injury turns out to be serious, the Lakers could further plummet in the Western Conference standings.

The Lakers are currently the ninth seed in the Western Conference with a 17-17 record.

They have an alarming 3-7 record in their last 10 matchups and aren’t showing any major signs of improvement during the 2023-24 NBA season.
