The Toronto Raptors had been scanning the NBA for a long period of time to trade away OG Anunoby.
The Raptors finally found the perfect suitor for Anunoby in the New York Knicks, as the two teams made the official announcement on Saturday.
Anunoby had become a key player for the Raptors in recent years, but it was more than obvious that the organization’s championship window with the current roster had closed.
Anunoby shared his views on his move to the Knicks via Fred Katz on Twitter.
“When I found out it was the Knicks, I was definitely excited. I’ve always liked the team. I grew up a fan of basketball, so I always watched the Knicks,” Anunoby said.

OG Anunoby revealed that he was happy to be traded to the New York Knicks because he had watched the team play basketball throughout his childhood.
Now, Anunoby gets a chance to help the iconic NBA franchise lift the prestigious Larry O’Brien trophy this season.
Anunoby could prove to be a great addition to the team, as he has averaged 15.1 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game so far this season.
Considering the Knicks already have the dynamic duo of Jalen Brunson and Julius Randle to handle most of the scoring load for the team, Anunoby can focus on bolstering the defense of the team.
The New York Knicks are currently the eighth seed in the Western Conference with a 17-15 record.
