The Phoenix Suns entered the season as the team to beat in the Western Conference.
Adding Bradley Beal to their core of Kevin Durant and Devin Booker was promising, but there were some serious concerns about their depth.
They addressed those issues in the offseason and put together one of the most stacked and versatile rosters in the league, later adding even more veterans like Eric Gordon and Jusuf Nurkic.
Fast forward to today, and the team has yet to click.
Either because of injuries or subpar play, the Suns cannot seem to be able to hang on with some of the other contenders in the Western Conference.
However, Durant believes no one is more aware of their situation than themselves, which is why he doesn’t think he has to step up and talk to his teammates about the grind of the season or whatnot (Via Duane Rankin).
“We’re all pros in here. We’ve got multiple guys who have been in the league for 5+ years. If I got to tell them what’s coming next, I don’t think I should have to tell them what’s coming next. They know what the season is about,” Durant said.

Durant has never been an outspoken guy, and his style of leadership has often been criticized, but he’s got a valid point there.
Players shouldn’t need someone else to speak up and hold them accountable; they’re all professionals and veterans and know that they can be traded before the deadline.
They should also know that they have half a season ahead of them to try and get things straightened out.
Then again, the clock is ticking, and this team looks far from the contending side we all thought they’d be at this point in the campaign.
