After a disastrous 2022 NFL season, following a blockbuster trade to acquire superstar quarterback Russell Wilson, the Denver Broncos seemed to be a team destined to head into a downward spiral, with little to no hope for the future in the Mile High City.
With the Broncos brass sacrificing so much to bring in Wilson, the team knew it had to salvage what appeared to be a promising young roster with a legitimate superstar under center.
As a result, the team decided to bring in former New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton to lead the way on the sideline for the Broncos, which initially seemed like a bad move after an awful start to the 2023 campaign.
Fortunately, the Broncos were able to turn things around after a disappointing start to the season, with Payton getting the bulk of the credit for the turnaround.
Even though the Broncos were unable to clinch a playoff spot, Broncos CEO Greg Penner is happy about Payton’s performance, as the veteran head coach impressed him with his focus and passion for the game, according to Zac Stevens of DNVR Sports.

Clearly, Broncos ownership is enamored with Payton and what he’s done for the franchise thus far, with hopes that he can take another step closer to being a Super Bowl title contender.
Even though it seems as though Payton has won over the front office in Denver, the same can’t be said for Wilson, who will likely be looking for another job in the NFL next season and beyond.
